General Purpose

Support client systems at PacifiCorp, Pacific Power, and Rocky Mountain Power. IT support responsibilities include; PCs, laptops, tablets, and hybrid hardware/software imaging setup and configuration; remote control, phone installation and repair, mobile device and PC hardware/software trouble shooting as well as working with other IT teams to provide technical assistance as required. IT Support Specialist 3 positions in the field are also required to support other IT infrastructure including servers, UPS, and network equipment as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Provide independent third level end user technical support with a high degree of autonomy.  Coordinate configuration/installation and troubleshooting of PC hardware and software.  Implement hardware and software testing. Require ability to develop, work through, and complete technical projects. Able to document processes and procedures according to corporate standards. Provide status reports and problem summaries. Provide remote PC support and troubleshooting. (50-60%)
  • Serve as escalation resource for problem resolution for IT Support Specialists 1 & 2. Can provide fill in for manager duties as needed. (15%)
  • Work with other IT departments as needed to support the IT infrastructure. Can include installing and troubleshooting server and networking hardware. Position also acts as a liaison relating business issues to technical teams. (10-20%)
  • Provide in-depth subject matter expertise for technology utilized in a dedicated assigned support area. Build positive working relationships with designated clients to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with clients and management (15%)
  • Develop, work through, and complete complex projects as well as document processes and procedures according to corporate standards. Delegating responsibilities of the project to appropriate team members and provide status to manager and clients. (5%)
  • Perform other tasks as requested or assigned. (5%)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent work experience. (Typically four years of additional related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a Bachelor’s degree.  A minimum of three years additional directly related technical experience is required.)
  • Five years of hands-on experience in a technical support role which includes desktop support responsibilities.
  • Excellent independent troubleshooting and resolution skills over multiple technologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well independently and with others.
  • Ability to guide less experienced staff.
  • MCSE, A+, certification in one or more MS operating systems
