Responsibilities

  • An Assistant Auxiliary Operator is responsible for the operation of ash handling equipment, pulverizers, electrostatic precipitators, and other equipment as directed by the Control Operator and Auxiliary Operator. 
  • Monitors responsible equipment for proper operation.
  • Monitors control instruments and records operating data. 
  • Interfaces with the Auxiliary Operator, Control Operator, and Shift Supervisor in optimizing the efficiency of unit operation.
  • Responsible for clearing out equipment for maintenance and returning the equipment to service after maintenance is complete.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • An Assistant Auxiliary Operator is an Operator who has met the qualifications and passed written oral examinations set forth by joint company and Union training committees as minimum qualifications for the position of Assistant Auxiliary Operator.
  • Must have thorough understanding of coal-fired combustion principles.
  • Must have working knowledge of turbines and liquid-cooled generators.

Preferences

  • Knowledge of power plant equipment and systems.
  • Basic understanding of a tagout clearance system for maintenance of equipment
