General Purpose

This position is responsible for leading a functional team of a larger department. Provide functional direction and training of telecommunications drafters, complete drafting on an as-needed basis, enter and maintain fiber asset tracking in ArcGIS, complete lifecycle management of Telecom assets in tracking databases, provide support for regulatory compliance, and lead conversion of circuit database into supported architecture. Maintain telecom circuit database and drafting records.


  • Plan and manage the work of the functional group made up of Telecom drafters and support staff. Lead projects and initiatives.
  • Provide training and technical guidance to drafting staff.
  • Coordinate drafting activities between Telecom engineering and document control.
  • Update and maintain drafting logs, modify as necessary to meet current needs.
  • Enter fiber assets into ArcGIS and provide direct support to fiber leasing program.
  • Work with external contractors to convert Telecom Circuit database to meet current security and architecture requirements.
  • Maintain data in circuit database, add new assets as required.
  • Perform Telecom asset lifecycle management in Remedy, maintain compliance with CSC-M3 measures.
  • Lead the functional team; direct day-to-day activities, and provide guidance and recommendations.
  • Provide input into team employee performance reviews. Flag performance and personnel issues for people manager resolution.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field; or equivalent work experience. (Typically four years of additional related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a Bachelor’s degree. A minimum of two years additional directly related technical experience is required.)
  • A minimum of five or more years of directly related professional experience.
  • Knowledge of engineering specifications and drawings, established drafting and design techniques
  • Knowledge of current technologies, tools, systems, and vendors.
  • Fundamental understanding of relational databases and data management
  • Communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult and resolve internal and external customer issues.
  • Ability to work with all levels of an organization including people with different styles and backgrounds; ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Ability to work independently with limited guidance and supervision.
