General Purpose

Responsible for implementation and delivery of safe, commercially focused and cost effective solutions for automotive fleet requirements across the Company.  Under direction of management manage purchasing, inventory and assignment of the utility’s mobile fleet assets. Manage associated strategies and processes that optimize capital investment, operational benefit, and maintenance costs. Work daily with a number of individuals and groups (both internal and external) in identifying and implementing solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver cost-effective and reliable fleet for all platforms at PacifiCorp.
  • Manage the vehicle replacement program, capital budget justification, vehicle ordering process, and oversee manufacturing vendors building PacifiCorp company vehicles and specialized equipment.
  • Implement strategies and standards to minimize operating and maintenance costs, and to improve the performance and safety of fleet assets.
  • Develop and publish specifications for vehicles, trailers, and specialized utility equipment with a strong focus on safety, ergonomics, functionality, and serviceability.
  • Review work functions/practices for multiple locations and develop initiatives that will create an environment that supports continuous process improvement.
  • Responsible for administering and maintaining programs to ensure that work performed by vendors is in compliance with company standards.
  • Responsible for company compliance with State and Federal transportation regulations.
  • Under direction of management act as a lead for personnel
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal customers and external suppliers.
  • Review contracts and negotiate with vendors.
  • Inspect equipment to ensure all requirements are met.
  • Provide accurate and timely information to customers regarding vehicle status and inventory.
  • Coordinate the transportation of vehicles using internal and external services.
  • Coordinate and perform in-service training for end user of utility fleet equipment.
     

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum 7 years related experience in an applicable field directly related to position responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated word processing, spreadsheet, and database management skills.
  • Leadership and teamwork skills to negotiate with and influence peers and management on procurement, policy, and operational issues.
  • Ability to establish objectives, execute policy, direct and monitor resources.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to consult with internal and external customers regarding matters/issues which may be sensitive in nature.
  • Ability to work with all levels of an organization including people with different styles and backgrounds; ability to present alternatives and recommendations.
  • Knowledge of applicable company policies and procedures and practices; and federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Project management skills to develop and monitor work agreements and budgets, determine specifications, schedules, timelines, and define deliverables.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of equipment inspections.
     

Preferences

  • Bachelor’s degree in automotive engineering or related field.
  • Knowledge of financial modeling to quantify costs and benefits of projects and to track and maintain project budgets.
  • Knowledge of utility fleet maintenance requirements and practices.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and ANSI requirements for utility vehicles and equipment.
  • Knowledge of utility fleet vehicle specifications and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of federal and state transportation laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of automotive industry hazardous material and safety regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of maintenance and repair requirements of light-duty vehicles, heavy-duty vehicles, hydraulic systems, and specialized utility industry equipment.
  • Knowledge of current developments in vehicle and equipment technologies.
  • Knowledge of vehicle telematics and GPS tracking technology.
  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • Holds a CDL – Commercial Driver’s License
