General Purpose

Perform industrial hygiene sampling for welding fumes, particulate, chemicals, noise, heat, and non-ionizing radiation for 11 thermal power generating sites, hydroelectric generating sites, and one geothermal generating site. Write sampling reports to document sampling findings and provide interpretation and recommended actions based on those findings. This position will be based out of Salt Lake City, Utah but will require significant travel to various locations in Utah, Wyoming, and southern Idaho.

Responsibilities

• Perform personal air quality monitoring using active, and passive sampling media.
• Perform area air quality monitoring using active, and passive sampling media.
• Perform personal noise dosimetry using 3M Quest noise dosimeters.
• Calibrate sampling equipment as needed.
• Provide written sampling reports for all agents sampled.
• Provide recommendations based on air/noise sampling results.

Requirements

• Junior standing or higher in an accredited industrial hygiene program (Sophomores with sampling experience will also be considered).
• Ability to interact favorably with project and work teams.
• Communication and interpersonal skills involving the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and recommendations.
• Proficient with the use of personal computers and sampling equipment.

Preferences

Graduate students working on Master programs are eligible to apply and pay will be commensurate with current year in school.
