General Purpose

 

Serve as a subject matter expert on a team focused on the implementation of a broad range of transportation electrification (TE) technologies, such as electric vehicles (EV), electric vehicle service equipment (EVSE), fleet electrification, telematics, and data management. Stay up to date on latest technologies and relevant advancements related to EVSE, EVs, understanding market trends and key technology market influencers. Support program implementation and act as technical expert, advising on program design, program evolution and TE strategy. Participate in stakeholder workshops, discussions, working groups, etc. to support the TE future of PacifiCorp. Support technical feasibility and onsite analysis where needed and support TE investments analysis and well as act as SME on site specific projects for both customers and utility sites 

Responsibilities

 

  • Design, develop, modify, and evaluate systems, process, or facilities to support company objectives, utilizing engineering methods.
  • Develop highly complex engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance assessments.  
  • Determine methods and techniques for obtaining results. 
  • Act as a lead/expert in the work group; train and mentor associate and career level engineers, technicians and drafters. 
  • Recommend alternative engineering solutions to management to meet business needs.  
  • Deliver on commitments and manage outside engineering services to accomplish the assigned work.
  • Maintain project timelines and budgets.
  • Analyze and design engineering methods.

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or electronics engineering from an accredited college/university..
  • A minimum of five or more years’ experience in industrial power systems, transportation electrification or electric utility power systems.
  • Experience with power distribution/utility electrical products and power electronics.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of principles in area of engineering specialty.
  • Advanced understanding of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging technology and energy management systems (EVSEs, DC fast chargers, and wireless charging systems) a plus
  • Basic knowledge of the USA National Electrical Code and understanding of understanding of EV and utility interoperability standards – ISO15118, OCPP 2.0, J1772, OpenADR, IEEE2030.5, and DIN specs..
  • Project management and leadership skills including the ability to work as a team member, to maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver on commitments.
  • Understanding of company’s business, and relevant policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local laws, regulations and the National Electric Codes.  
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations while maintaining focus and calmness.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills involving the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and recommendations. 
  • Proficient with the use of personal computers including automated tools.

In addition to the above, the requirements for the Sr Engineer II include the following:

  • A minimum of six or more years’ experience in industrial power systems or electric utility power systems.
  • Advanced technical degree or professional engineer (PE) license required or 8 years of directly applicable engineering experience required.

Hiring Range: $95,800 - $121,300 

This position is eligible for an annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 15.00% of salary.
