General Purpose

Play a pivotal role in shaping how we support and reward our employees! This position leads the strategy and execution of our full suite of health, welfare, and retirement benefits while ensuring compliance and operational excellence. You’ll also directly influence compensation outcomes through oversight of the annual merit cycle, incentive programs, and executive compensation plans all while building and developing a high-performing team and aligning resources to deliver meaningful impact across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee compensation, employee benefit and disability programs, including, health care coverage, life insurance, retirement, 401(k), personal time, long and short term disability, workers compensation, service awards, merit cycle, job evaluations, equity adjustments, annual incentive, long term incentive plans and executive deferred compensation plans and supplemental executive retirement plans.
  • Oversee the executive compensation programs, including long term incentive plan, deferred compensation plan and compiling/coordinating executive compensation disclosures (e.g. 10-K).
  • Ensure compliance with applicable plans, and laws and regulations.
  • Manage all annual reporting and filing requirements (e.g., 10k, 5500’s, PBGC payments).
  • Assist in the development of company bargaining proposals for employee benefits and analyzing union benefit demands in support of negotiation teams.
  • Participate in union negotiations and present on company plans and proposals to employees and union leaders as deemed necessary.
  • Manage ongoing relationships with benefit and compensation plan consultants, brokers, trustees and administrators; monitor administrative service contracts, administrative fees and performance guarantees and results.
  • Manage resolution of employee inquiries on benefits and compensation; communicate appropriate information.
  • Monitor experience (claims, administration fees, utilization) and costs of benefit plans, recommend enhancement/improvement and implement approved changes.
  • Trustee on the pension and medical trusts.
  • Oversight of complex data requests and responses. 
  • Responsible for the establishment and adherence to department budgets.
  • Maintain sensitive and confidential information regarding company information.
  • Select, coach, and develop employees.
  • Review and evaluate employee performance and prepare annual reviews. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of ten years’ experience in Human Resources management.
  • A minimum of five years of direct people management experience.
  • Management skills including the ability to establish objectives, develop and execute policy, direct and monitor resources, and recommend and oversee development or implementation of systems, programs, or processes.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to manage and motivate employees, use oral and written communication to create a vision, communicate strategy, and effectively interface with other Company leaders.
  • Knowledge of the Company’s strategic plan, as well as the Company’s policies, procedures and practices, and applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of employee compensation and benefit plans.

This position is eligible for an annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 20.00%.
