General Purpose

Process customer payments using equipment such as computer workstation and scanning equipment. Perform quality control checks, and diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions.  Mentor and train other remittance processor staff. Assist in development and maintenance of operations procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule staff members and job tasks to ensure timely completion of department objectives.  Cover for other Remittance Processor absences as needed.
  • Serve as an expert in all functions and mentor/train other remittance processor staff.
  • Sort incoming customer payments via mail.
  • Operate Opex specialized remittance processing equipment to open, prep, and scan customer payments.  Troubleshoot errors as necessary.
  • Use Mavro remittance processing software to review, verify, and apply payment transactions.
  • Utilize available resources such as customer information system or payment archive for complex billing and payment research and problem resolution.
  • Review department processes and determine the most efficient methodology to maximize productivity and quality.
  • Research customer account information to resolve processing problems using CSS as well as web-based reports.
  • Prepare systems reports and review with staff to resolve any problems.  Communicate any systems issues to appropriate IT or system support personnel.
  • Balance and prepare cash box payment for deposit.
  • Process cash payment deposits as necessary; communicate the results to department supervisor or manager, customer service payment support and Treasury.  

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of three years of directly-related experience in payment processing.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient with the use of personal computers including spreadsheet, database, word processing, and presentation applications.
  • 10-key by touch experience.
  • Experience with Opex Equipment, Mavro Software and CSS.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult and resolve internal and external customer issues which may be critical, sensitive, or urgent in nature.
  • Ability to work with all levels of an organization including people with different styles and backgrounds; ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Understanding of applicable Company policies, practices and procedures.
  • Assessment skills including problem diagnosis and identification of proper methods and techniques to resolve and prevent future problems.
  • Shift hours are 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM Monday through Friday with possible overtime necessary to complete assignments on Tuesday and Friday and the last day of the month. 

Preferences

  • Accounting or math training, and prior banking or accounts receivable reconciling and balancing experience.
  • Experience working in a payment processing/office environment.
