General Purpose

Plan, design, develop, implement and evaluate learning and maintain training programs and/or curriculum. Evaluate and ensure compliance with training standards and technical requirements, as applicable. Conduct training assessments and gap analysis to determine additional individual training.  Position identifies, creates, facilitates and maintains in-person, virtual, and blended training in partnership with stakeholders, owners and subject matter experts.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design and develop training, incorporating effective learning principles using the Systematic Approach to Training/ADDIE process. Evaluate business need, training requirements, business policies, external standards, regulation and emerging regulation to develop new or refined training programs.
  • Lead gap analysis, training needs assessments and program evaluation to determine learning solutions for individual, group and business requirements. Confer with stakeholders, owners and subject matter experts to identify specific learning needs and objectives.
  • Scope training to diverse audiences and topics, including business skills, corporate applications, complex technical training plans and programs.
  • Plan, develop, and deliver training and development programs. Determine appropriate delivery methods (i.e., in-person training, virtual or blended learning) to meet learning objectives.
  • Use the appropriate tool to develop training (i.e., Microsoft Office, Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Suite), using effective instructional design, instructional graphics and user interface.
  • Design, develop and maintain clear written job task documentation, technical task surveys, and training materials using effective instructional design and instructional graphics (i.e., Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Design, develop and lead training assessments, training evaluation, and effectiveness surveys that adhere to policies and requirements. Use data to inform practice.
  • Maintain documentation, track and report activities (i.e., LMS, database, physical documents, System Operator training activities, NERC Certified Continuing Education Hours) in accordance with policy, program and regulation standards. Provide training documentation and support during regulatory audits (i.e., NERC, WECC).
  • Apply tested adult learning principles, instructional design and visual design methods to lead training development with subject matter experts. Conduct technical review and ensure revisions comply with regulatory requirements and company policies and practices.
  • Develop and administer training in accordance with regulation (i.e., NERC approved Individual Learning Activities), using effective instructional methods.
  • Coordinate training activities (i.e., simulator-based training, system restoration drills, other regional training activities or events) as required.
  • Monitor information and developments in emerging technologies, trends, and training techniques while maintaining awareness of current policies, requirements and regulation.
  • Understand basic principles and responsibilities of various business groups in an electric utility.
  • Maintain continual learning in instructional design and effective facilitation of content.
     

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in instructional design, education, educational technology, or related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of five years directly related experience in training.
  • Excellent knowledge of learning theories, instructional design models, and learning facilitation.
  • Lesson and curriculum planning experience.
  • Visual design skills and ability to storyboard a project.
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio/video script, facilitator guides.
  • Experience in facilitation of learning; ability to understand and adapt learning to an audience.
  • Ability to work as a team member and work flexibly on a variety of projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop relationships throughout an organization. Ability to present alternatives and recommendations.

Preferences

  • Experience in eLearning and multimedia knowledge (Articulate 360 and Adobe Creative Suite preferred).
  • Experience in at least one Learning Management System (SAP or Oracle preferred).

This position is eligible for an annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 12.00% of salary.
