General Purpose

The Systems & Development Analyst role supports the stability, reliability, and ongoing improvement of Energy Supply Management applications and integrated business systems. Analysts investigate and resolve issues, perform routine to advanced application maintenance, collaborate with end users and technical teams, and ensure accurate documentation and workflow management across supported environments. They take on increasingly complex troubleshooting, deeper application and technical ownership, cross‑functional coordination, guidance of peers, and leadership during high‑impact operational events. Senior‑level analysts additionally drive architectural improvements, lead incident response efforts, perform root‑cause analysis, and shape long‑term system reliability through expert‑level problem solving, vendor engagement, and DevOps workflow leadership.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Systems and Development Analyst 2 position include:

  • Supports the stability and reliability of Energy Supply Management systems by acting as the first responder to reported issues, performing initial troubleshooting, escalating when appropriate, and maintaining accurate ticket updates to ensure timely, SLA‑aligned resolution.
  • Performs routine application maintenance, including issue investigation, assistance with patches and upgrades, and basic configuration changes under guidance; resolves well‑defined issues and collaborates with senior team members on more complex problems.
  • Provides customer support for applications and interfaces by researching documented issues, gathering diagnostic information, submitting vendor tickets, and assisting in resolving standard product questions or enhancement requests.
  • Configures, tests, documents, and implements changes for supported applications and interfaces following established procedures and design specifications.
  • Collaborates with end users to understand business practices, operational timelines, and analytical needs, ensuring reliable system support.
  • Reviews upstream and downstream workflows to understand how business processes influence system behavior and support needs.
  • Creates and maintains clear technical documentation and basic system diagrams, ensuring change records, documentation repositories, and ticketing systems remain current and aligned with standards.
  • Collaborates with internal IT teams across infrastructure, security, networking, data, cloud, and application domains to support coordinated, end‑to‑end system operations.
  • Supports workflow coordination in Azure DevOps by maintaining accurate work item statuses, communicating progress, identifying simple blockers, and ensuring tasks move through expected stages.
  • Communicates effectively with stakeholders by providing timely updates, clarifying issues, and maintaining alignment during operational and support activities.
  • Maintains UiPath test suites and reusable components; executes test cases using defined scripts and data, updating test results and defects in Azure DevOps.
  • May guide other analysts in completing assigned work.
  • Performs any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Analyst 3

In addition to above, the responsibilities of the Systems and Development Analyst 3 position include: 

  • Performs detailed troubleshooting analysis, applying judgment and advanced problem‑solving skills when issues extend beyond available documentation.
  • Contributes specialized system knowledge and deeper application expertise to enhance team support capabilities.
  • Diagnoses and resolves complex issues independently or in coordination with vendors, depending on problem complexity.
  • Designs and maintains moderately complex application customizations and interfaces, ensuring alignment with standards and long‑term maintainability.
  • Independently engages with end users to understand business practices, operational dependencies, and analytical needs, using this insight to recommend improvements and enhance system functionality.
    Identifies risks, interdependencies, and support needs across integrated workflows.
  • Creates and maintains accurate, comprehensive technical documentation and system diagrams, ensuring adherence to team standards.
  • Communicates proactively with stakeholders during time‑critical events and coordinates cross‑functional work to ensure timely issue resolution.
  • Coordinates team workflows in Azure DevOps by managing work items, ensuring documentation accuracy, identifying dependencies, raising blockers or risks, and supporting planning discussions for predictable task flow.
  • Designs and maintains UiPath test suites and reusable components; executes test cases and builds data‑driven, modular tests to improve reliability and coverage.

Senior Analyst

In addition to above, the responsibilities of the Senior Systems and Development Analyst position include:  

  • Provides technical leadership for incident response and operational support, guiding others through complex, high‑impact, and time‑sensitive issues.
  • Leads application maintenance and advanced troubleshooting efforts, diagnosing deeply complex problems and coaching others in effective resolution techniques.
  • Conducts root‑cause analyses, defines enhancement needs, and partners with vendors to assess product quality, compatibility, and long‑term fit; influences enhancement decisions to ensure solutions remain reliable and aligned with operational requirements.
  • Architects complex integrations and ensures implementations follow architectural standards, incorporate robust validation, and maintain complete, accurate documentation for operational continuity.
  • Coaches others in creating and maintaining high‑quality documentation and system diagrams, promoting consistency and adherence to team standards.
  • Leads Azure DevOps workflow coordination by defining and organizing work items, driving prioritization discussions, removing blockers, aligning cross‑team dependencies, and promoting consistent DevOps practices.
  • Leads stakeholder communication during complex or high‑impact situations, ensuring clarity, alignment, and timely decision‑making across both technical and business groups.
    Designs and maintains automated test suites; integrates automated tests with Azure DevOps for execution and reporting; triages failures to drive defect resolution, improve coverage, and enhance system reliability.

Requirements

Requirements for the Systems and Development Analyst 2 position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in management information systems (MIS), computer science, or related technical field, or equivalent work experience
     (typically four years of progressive experience for candidates without a degree).
  • Minimum of two years of experience in systems analysis or software application development.
    General knowledge of database technology.
  • Working knowledge of information technology terms, equipment, systems, functions, and major vendors.
    Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
  • Availability for on‑call responsibilities as part of an on‑call rotation.
  • Experience integrating Commercial off‑the‑Shelf (COTS) solutions within an environment with strong change and release management processes.
    General knowledge of Oracle and Microsoft SQL database development.
  • Ability to create and maintain clear technical documentation and basic system diagrams.
  • Proficiency in managing and organizing work items in Azure DevOps using Azure Boards, ensuring accurate tracking and workflow alignment.

 

In addition to the above, the requirements for the Systems and Development Analyst 3 position include:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in systems analysis or software application development.
  • Strong ability to independently develop and maintain technical documentation and complex system diagrams.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IT terms, equipment, systems, functions, and major vendors.

 

In addition to all the above, the requirements for the Senior Systems and Development Analyst position include:

  • Minimum of six years of experience in systems analysis or software application development.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of IT terms, equipment, systems, functions, and major vendors.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle and Microsoft SQL database development.
  • Ability to lead the creation, accuracy, and ongoing maintenance of comprehensive technical documentation and complex system diagrams.
  • Ability to lead the effective use of Azure DevOps by ensuring work items are accurately documented, prioritized, and maintained, and by guiding others in best‑practice workflow management.

Preferences

  • Familiarity with energy trading or risk management processes.
  • Experience working with ION Endur, PCI Energy Solutions software, OATI, YesEnergy, MCG Energy Solutions, or AVEVA PI System is beneficial.
  • Experience designing, maintaining, and running UiPath automated tests is beneficial.
