General Purpose

Conduct analysis and develop business financial reports and projections through research, gathering and interpretation of data, development of alternatives and recommendations. Assist in completion of annual treasury cash forecast and financing plan, support rating agency forecast and presentations, and research, interpret and analyze current business practices, business structure and cash flow ratios.  Activities include, but are not limited to, development and maintenance of financial models, development and analyses of forecast/budget data and schedules, and financial performance reporting.  

 

This position is available at multiple levels.  Applicants will be considered for the level that best matches their education and experience. 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of this position include the following:

  • Prepare, document and submit monthly forecasts by gathering data and analysis of related income statement, cash flow statement and balance sheet movements.
  • Develop and prepare ad hoc financial analyses and written reports.
  • Direct activities related to development of the annual business plan; including business unit coordination, data verification and completeness for assigned sections and summarization of analysis and related information for effective presentation.
  • Develop and prepare presentations including analysis from external sources such as rating agency methodology, financial business partners, and capital market sources.
  • Model and analyze scenarios based on input from planning, treasury and finance.
  • Provide high level support for company mortgage documentation for special project financing.
  • Serve as key player in responding to data requests from regulatory agencies and other ad hoc assignments. 
  • Develop metrics and report on quality and accuracy of internal control processes.
  • Propose and analyze financing alternatives.
  • Assist with company financing projects.
  • Provide high level support to cash management team on cash positioning, investing and borrowing activities.

 

Additional Responsibilities of the Senior Valuation Finance Specialist include:

  • Act as the top subject matter expert and prepare, document and submit monthly forecasts by gathering data and analysis of related income statement, cash flow statement and balance sheet movements.
  • Design and implement policies and practices for the Valuation Finance group. Collaborate with information technology team to automate tasks.  
  • Develop new processes and procedures that impact the business. 
  • Identify areas of potential risk and propose process improvements and innovations.
  • Lead company financing projects.

Requirements

Requirements for this position include the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of five years of experience with financial analysis and modeling, including cash flow and balance sheet modeling.
  • Advanced software skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint and ability to utilize advanced modeling techniques such as programming in order to automate model functionality.
  • Support rating agency forecast and presentations, have working knowledge of rating agency metrics, and research, interpret and analyze current business practices, business structure and cash flow ratios across the various platforms.
  • Experience in financial statement preparation and analysis.
  • Ability to analyze complex transactions, their accounting treatment and financial statement implications.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively through oral and written means.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to establish trust, maintain confidence, and understand social behavior and interactions.
  • Ability to work with all organizational levels, and to influence actions and negotiate outcomes. 


Additional Requirements of the Senior Valuation Finance Specialist include:

  • A minimum of seven years of experience with financial analysis and modeling, including cash flow and balance sheet modeling.

Preferences

  • Advanced degree and/or CPA or CFP designation. 
  • Experience in SAP Financial Systems modules.
  • General understanding of utility economics and accounting, and knowledge of FERC Code of Regulations.
  • Regulated utility industry experience.
