General Purpose

 

Develops engineering studies, specifications, policies, procedures, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance/risk assessments for major equipment associated with company’s Asset Management organization. Additionally provides distribution engineering support to the companies Wildfire Mitigation Program (WMP) in OR, WA, and CA.

Responsibilities

 

Responsibilities for the Engineer II position include the following:

  • Directly interface with and support local transmission, substation, and distribution operations as part of the Asset Management organization.
  • Design, develop, modify, and evaluate systems, process, or facilities to support Company objectives. 
  • Provide engineering support and code interpretation of Public Utility Commission (PUC) audit report findings and ensure compliance with National Electric Safety Code (NESC) in OR/WA and General Order (GO) code requirements in CA.
  • Develop moderately complex engineering studies, plans, specifications, policies, procedures, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance/risk assessments on major equipment. 
  • Provide distribution engineering support for companies Wildfire Mitigation Program (WMP) projects in OR, WA, and CA.
  • Determine methods and techniques for obtaining results.
  • Recommend alternative solutions to management in area of specialty on engineering solutions to meet business needs.
  • Deliver on commitments and manage outside engineering services to accomplish the assigned work.
  • Analyze and design engineering methods.


In addition to the above, the Sr. Level Engineer responsibilities include:

 

  • Develop highly complex engineering studies, plans, specifications, policies, procedures, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance/risk assessments for major equipment.
  • Act as a lead/expert in the work group; train and mentor associate and career level engineers, technicians and drafters

Requirements

 

The Requirements for the Engineer II  include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college/university.
  • A minimum of two or more years of directly related experience in the applicable engineering field.
  • Knowledge and application of principles in area of engineering specialty.
  • Ability to interact favorably with project and work teams.
  • Proficient with the use of personal computers and automated tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills involving the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and recommendations.
  • Understanding of Company’s business, and relevant policies, procedures, and practices. Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local laws, regulations and the NESC and GO requirements.
  • Ability to provide timely assessments with limited information and/or assumptions.

 

In addition to the above, the Sr. Level Engineer requirements include:

  • A minimum of five or more years experience in industrial power systems or electric utility power systems, or related professional experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of principles in area of engineering specialty.
  • Project management and leadership skills including the ability to work as a team member, to maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver on commitments.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills involving the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and recommendations.

Preferences

 

  • Engineering experience specific to industrial power systems or electric utility power systems.
  • Experience with NESC and GO Code compliance in WA, OR, or CA.

Hiring Range: $83,400 - $112,700 

This position is eligible for an annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 12% - 15% of salary.
