General Purpose
Manages PacifiCorp’s operations technologies including Windows, Unix, network and firewall infrastructure support teams. These teams develop plans, designs, resource requirements, and cost estimates for construction, maintenance projects and support involving high availability data center networks, multi-platform data network connectivity and OT Windows/UNIX systems. Provides IT server and client compute infrastructure services to PacifiCorp’s critical control business units. The position also maintains relationships with the BHE companies’ compliance departments to ensure NERC CIP, TSA, and other regulatory requirements are met.
The position supports the installed infrastructure for high priority zones within PacifiCorp, including Windows, UNIX/Linux and ESX server platforms, Storage arrays, Compute, Storage, and Network virtualization technologies. Responsible for the resources that conduct analysis, create system specifications, develop, test and implement operating systems. Evaluate software packages and provide recommendations to management. Responsibilities include engineering and deploying networks solutions for IP network routers, switches and firewalls.
Collaborate with industrial control system vendors and integrators to implement cybersecurity best practices to secure the network technologies and industrial control systems for PacifiCorp. This position is responsible for ensuring proper documentation of all related policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day cybersecurity and system reliability operations of open systems client and server computing environment for critical PacifiCorp industrial control systems. Oversee the implementation, maintenance and cybersecurity of these production environments. Develop necessary policies, procedures and methodologies to support and maintain utility industrial control systems.
- Perform administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the department, including employee safety, selection and development of employees, pay administration, budget administration, employee counseling and motivation, organization goals and objectives, planning, organizing, organizing, integrating, measuring, and reporting the work performed within the department.
- Maintain compliance of managed systems with NERC CIP and TSA regulations. Support compliance department with external audits of managed systems. Maintain understanding of current and proposed regulations and their potential impact.
- Manage the investigation and implementation of new technologies, including cybersecurity solutions
- Work with external DCS vendors to ensure both new and existing systems adhere to internal security standards and best practices.
- Work with internal and/or vendor personnel to investigate system problems and develop solutions and ensure successful testing and implementation of those solutions.
- Develop formal proposals for hardware and software component purchases and participate in negotiations with vendors. Coordinate plans for hardware and software changes and enhancements with other information technology personnel.

- Communicate with senior management and business units to assure that information systems and technologies are provided, improved, and replaced as required. Manage the systems and technology development priorities.
- Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with hardware, software, consulting, and employee resource vendors to ensure that the Company's systems are adequately secured, supported and external influences on the Company's systems are understood and used in planning.
- Manage the development of disaster recovery plans for the open systems platforms.
- Manage the provision of open system technical support and training.
- Participate in systems capacity planning to manage technology changes and growth and make recommendations for approval by senior management.
- Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, or related technical field; or equivalent work experience. (Typically, six years of related, progressive related work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
- Eight years of experience combined from industrial control system and/or data center operations and open systems administration.
- Three years of supervisory/ people management experience.
- Advanced technical knowledge of hardware configurations, complex operating systems, database management systems, network infrastructure, storage systems and disaster recovery practices.
- Knowledge of information technology terms, equipment, systems, functions and major vendors.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills. Effective interpersonal skills and customer relationship skills. Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 suite of tools.
- Availability as a resource for problem resolution on a 24-hour basis.

Preferences
- Advanced degree.
- Experience working in an electric utility control center environment.
- Experience in systems analysis and development including implementation and maintenance of a major vendor supported application and systems integration experience.
- Experience with high priority network zones support zone 5 and zone 4 (DMZ) environments.
- Experience with AspenTech’s (OSI) monarch SCADA/EMS and associated applications and network configurations.
- Experience managing and leading development teams.
- Strong project management skills with experience in organizing, planning, and executing large-scale projects from vision through implementation.

This position is eligible for an annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 20f salary.
