General Purpose
Responsible for implementation and delivery of commercially focused and cost effective solutions for automotive fleet maintenance requirements. Provide leadership and motivate employees to deliver high quality fleet customer service on a market competitive basis.
Responsibilities
- Manage all fleet maintenance functions including preventative maintenance, corrective repairs, hydraulic services and parts inventory and purchasing.
- Manage compliance with established fleet preventative maintenance programs.
- Deliver a safe, cost-effective and reliable automotive fleet.
- Implement strategies and standards to minimize operating and maintenance costs, and to improve the performance and safety of fleet assets.
- Review work functions/practices for multiple locations and develop initiatives that will create an environment that supports continuous process improvement.
- Responsible for administering and maintaining programs to ensure that work performed by vendors is in compliance with company maintenance and repair standards.
- Manage hazardous material/waste management processes for vehicle maintenance facilities in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
- Responsible for company compliance with State and Federal transportation regulations.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal customers and external suppliers.
- Administer performance management systems to measure and improve work force utilization.
- Manage assigned personnel through administration of Union Contract(s) and company human resource policies, including but not limited to hiring of personnel for assigned areas of responsibility and use of the disciplinary process.
- Manage safety program for all assigned automotive garages.
- Manage training requirements of assigned personnel.
- Select, coach, and develop employees.
- Review and evaluate employee performance and prepare annual reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in automotive or mechanical engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum 7 years of related professional experience and track record of delivery in fleet maintenance.
- Demonstrated financial management skills.
- Leadership and teamwork skills to negotiate with and influence peers and management on policy and operational issues.
- Ability to establish objectives, execute policy, direct and monitor resources.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
Preferences
- Knowledge of transport maintenance requirements and practices.
- Knowledge of federal and state transportation laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of automotive industry hazardous material and safety regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of maintenance and repair requirements of light-duty vehicles, heavy-duty vehicles, hydraulic systems, and specialized utility industry equipment.
- Knowledge of current developments in utility vehicle and equipment technologies.
