General Purpose

Provides professional financial reporting services utilizing U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) rules and regulations and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s (FERC) Uniform System of Accounts. Activities include interpretation and application of these principles, rules and regulations and accounting and finance policies, including those issued by governmental and regulatory bodies and external and ad hoc financial reporting duties.


  • Assist with preparation of SEC Form 10-Q and 10-K filings.
  • Assist with preparation of FERC Form 1 and 3Q filings.
  • Assist with other external reports, which may include state regulatory filings for affiliated interest activities and other annual reports and employee benefit plan financial statements.
  • Perform recurring activities associated with administration and monitoring of the company’s Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX) framework.
  • Perform recurring SOX controls related to technical accounting and other external reporting duties.
  • Assist with technical accounting duties, including research and reviews of significant contracts for accounting and disclosure implications, assessment of new accounting pronouncements and other internal controls related to technical accounting.
  • Perform quarterly variance analyses of actual results on a GAAP and/or FERC basis.
  • Perform other ad hoc reporting and tasks, which may include providing information to external auditors, drafting responses to data requests from state regulatory commissions, evaluating finance policies and other internal requests. 
  • Consult with operational and management personnel on issues that may be critical, complex, sensitive, or urgent in nature, identifying and implementing solutions.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of five years experience in accounting or a related field. 
  • A strong working knowledge of GAAP. 
  • Experience in financial statement preparation and analysis.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to establish trust, maintain confidence, and understand social behavior and interactions. 
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively through oral and written means. 
  • Ability to work well and communicate effectively with all levels of an organization including people with different styles and backgrounds. 
  • Project management and leadership skills, including the ability to work as a team member, to maintain project timelines and deliver on commitments.
  • Proficient with the use of software applications, including Excel, to gather, analyze, and summarize data.
  • A minimum of five years relevant work experience that has contributed to the development of skills in accounting, including the ability to gather and analyze complex financial data and provide written and verbal explanations based upon analysis.


  • Public accounting experience
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) 
  • General understanding of utility regulation and the FERC Uniform System of Accounts and ratemaking principles.
  • SAP experience 
  • Knowledge of company accounting policies, procedures, practices, and system
