This Journeyman Serviceman position for Rawlins, Wyoming (ONLY) is offering a $10,000 Sign-On Bonus.

General Purpose

The journeyman lineman/Serviceman position performs all necessary field customer service work activities to include all after hours outage response, new construction, and maintenance of the existing electrical network. This includes all aspects of the work from the exit of the generating facilities, through the transmission network, the substation network, the distribution network and ultimately to the customers residences


  • Construct, maintain and repair Company power lines and distribution systems, both overhead and underground, from point of generation to the customer's premises to insure continuity of electric service in a safe and efficient manner. 
  • Receives work direction and review from Crew Supervisor, Foreman, Dispatcher, District Manager, or other line supervisors. 
  • Construct, install, maintain and repair all transmission and distribution electrical systems and associated equipment, both overhead and underground, for the reliable and safe transmission and distribution of electrical service to the customer.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as line truck, backhoe, forklift, trencher, overhead cranes, and wire pulling equipment in the building of new lines or distribution systems and/or maintaining existing electric systems or services. 
  • Work with blasting and explosive materials and devices.
  • Climb poles to construct, repair, or maintain electric line equipment or string, splice, and sag wire on live or dead circuits.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and restore electric service due to line faults, isolated customer outages, and other emergency outages caused by storms, floods, and accidents.
  • Train and instruct apprentices in all phases of line work, proper use of tools and operating and maintaining equipment in accordance to safety rules, electrical code, and regulations.
  • Perform switching and other mechanical duties in substations as required.
  • Install and maintain street light systems.
  • Patrol and inspect substations, transmission and distribution lines and equipment, and make a report of findings.
  • Test electrical load with special test equipment on primary and secondary circuits and make corrections as necessary to maintain proper voltages
  • Make a complete record of mileage reports, trouble orders and work performed; time sheets, material reports, line patrol reports and others as required.
  • May be required to relieve the working Foreman or Crew Supervisor in their absence.
  • The typical duties described herein represent a major portion of the job. 
  • Other similar duties may be assigned. 
  • When management determines that it is efficient to do so, employees in this classification may be assigned duties of less complexity.


  • Must have a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Must be qualified Journeyman Lineman
  • Must obtain a Class A CDL  
  • This position may require a post-offer, pre-placement physical capacity screening, conducted by a licensed physical therapist, to assure the candidate meets the physical demands of the job.
  • The screening will assess only the identified physical demands of the job being applied for.   "Please note, persons transferring within the same job classifications where the physical demands are the same (as determined by the job's physical demands analysis), will not need a physical capacity test."  

Physical Demands

The job duties of Lineman require lifting in excess of 75 lbs from floor to waist and waist to overhead, carrying in excess of 75 lbs with both hands, and pushing and pulling in excess of 100 lbs of exertional force.  Job duties of the Lineman require sustained, awkward positions/postures including bending and twisting at the waist and neck; reaching forward, to the side, across the body and overhead.  Additional requirements of the Lineman position include forceful grip and pinch; manipulation of small objects; balancing on one or both legs during dynamic activities; manipulation of large objects during activities requiring balance and sustained awkward postures.
