General Purpose

The Engineer for the Asset Management Center of Excellence develops asset performance and reliability metrics and best practices associated with the operation and maintenance of the company’s generation, transmission, and distribution utility facilities and related systems. This person also assists in the review of utility reliability/availability improvement plans and provides rapid drill-down analysis services to provide further insight into questions arising during reviews. This role functions as a bridge between affiliates to discuss forecasts, potential action plans, and best practice recommendations. This work requires an analytical mindset, the ability to proactively explore root cause hypothesis using available analytics tools, and a passion for teaching others to do the same.

 

Responsibilities

•    Support all asset management related activities for the organization
•    Collaborate with groups to analyze and develop capital projects to ensure a high level of reliability and customer service 
•    Develop complex engineering evaluations of shared systems and approaches  
•    Review and provide feedback on high-level asset performance improvement and investment optimization plans
•    Perform analysis on company owned assets to prioritize maintenance and capital investments within the 10-year plan
•    Collaborate with groups to analyze and develop capital projects to ensure a high level of reliability and customer service 
•    Conduct maintenance review activities with asset management leadership to ensure new/updated maintenance programs are administered effectively
•    Develop performance assessments on assets, identifying major issues and risks that can be used to make decisions to improve efficiency of assets
•    Assist in value framework assessments and asset intervention impact assessments
•    Develop rapid prototypes of new analytics concepts
•    Evaluate asset analytics proposals including development of high-level business cases
•    Determine methods and techniques for improving results
•    Recommend alternative engineering solutions to management to meet business needs
•    Maintain project timelines and budgets

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college/university.
  • A minimum of two or more years of directly related experience in the applicable engineering field.
  • Knowledge and application of principles in area of engineering specialty.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills involving the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and recommendations.
  • Understanding of Company’s business, and relevant policies, procedures, and practices. Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local laws, regulations and the National Electric Codes (if required for the position).
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations while maintaining focus and calmness.
  • Ability to provide timely assessments with limited information and/or assumptions.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to consult with internal and external customers regarding matters/issues which may be sensitive in nature
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the core principles of asset performance analytics or predictive analytics
  • Proficient with the use of personal computers and automated tools.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of analytics software such as Power BI, Python, Dax, R, Machine Learning

This position is eligible for an annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 12.00% of salary.
