General Purpose

Lead activities related to development of nuclear plant processes, procedures, maintenance, and training, and licensing strategy / direction to the developing organization, vendor, and consultants to ensure regulatory requirements are met. Develop strategy and team responsible for ensuring safe and reliable operations of a nuclear generating facility while adhering to all PacifiCorp requirements, regulatory requirements, and license requirements for the Natrium reactor.  Work cross-functionally within PacifiCorp while taking day-to-day direction from TerraPower, understanding the current regulatory environment as well as developing a strategy to ensure the Natrium project meets all compliance and regulatory approvals. Perform, build, and lead an effective team composed of technical experts and other operations personnel as needed. This position will be expected to meet regularly with TerraPower to ensure alignment between TerraPower and PacifiCorp. 


•    Provides strategic leadership and technical, operational, financial, and managerial leadership for successful implementation of project activities.
•    Oversees the selection of qualified program staff, assigning clear roles and responsibilities, providing effective supervision, and managing performance to ensure efficient operations.
•    Oversees budget development and budget monitoring.
•    Conducts monthly reviews to ensure accountability of all project activities as well as the accurate and timely reporting of financial deliverables and obligations.
•    Ensures that the project progresses in accordance to its contractual obligations and complies with regulations and internal organizational policies.
•    Interface with outside organizations in order to effectively coordinate, plan, budget, and organize operational support for a Nuclear Project.
•    Directs company employees, vendor and consultant personnel to ensure that regulatory requirements relating to the operations, design, construction and modification of existing facilities are met.
•    Identifies, prioritizes, and facilitates necessary support and response to regulatory issues and project development initiatives.
•    Recommend alternative solutions to management regarding the development or enhancement of programs or processes.
•    Assumes responsibility for generic and/or plant-specific procedures, processes, maintenance, and training.
•    Work with subject matter experts in creating training materials for power plant operations / training courses. 
•    Track and manage mandatory compliance / regulatory standards that are applicable to plant operations and training requirements. 
•    Supports Safety and Human Performance Observation (SAHPO) platform development and provides guidance on Human Performance Improvement (HPI) for nuclear operations. 
•    Work on special projects as assigned. 
•    Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


•    Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
•    A minimum of ten years nuclear power plant operations and/or licensing experience, which includes an understanding of power plant operations.
•    Must have experience working on Nuclear Projects or at a Nuclear Utility.
•    A minimum of seven years Supervisor / Management experience. 
•    Design skills including the development of processes and programs to meet power plant needs. 
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Ability to work with all organizational levels to influence actions and negotiate outcomes.
•    Ability to listen and communicate effectively through oral and written means.
•    Ability to read and write technical documents.
•    Proficient with the use of personal computers to gather, analyze, and summarize data.
•    Project management and leadership skills, including the ability to work as a team member, maintain project timelines, and deliver on commitments. 
•    Knowledge of research, analysis, and consulting techniques, Company policies, procedures, practices, and applicable federal, state, and local governmental laws and regulations. 


•    Preferred Qualification – Senior Reactor Operator License (SRO).

This position is eligible for an annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 20.00% of salary.
