General Purpose
The Supply Chain Planner collaborates with commodity teams, facilitates and aggregates short-term and long-term demand and supply plans for materials and/or services. This position balances supplier capacity with business needs and constraints; including, but not limited to, physical capacity, shipping schedules and major project adjustments. The Supply Chain Planner is responsible for gathering and forecasting usage and delivery data from applicable business unit customers.

Responsibilities
- Oversee the inventory replenishment and requisition generation for material requirements.
- Manage the overall inventory investment and risks for the entire inventory and the individual materials with inventory requirements.
- Validate and maintain the reorder information in the system to ensure that it is current and valid.
- Release reorder system and generated requisitions and manage inventory availability to support the construction and maintenance requirements of the Company.
- Develop inventory objectives and strategy and the determination of the inventory reserve.
- Review the requisitions generated by the reorder system by evaluating past usage, the current lead time, and the known requirements for each material, and change the reorder data to maintain the inventory at acceptable levels.
- Verify inventory to confirm if existing inventory material can satisfy requirements at other locations.
- Act as focal point for material availability for the warehouses and operations.
- Participate in the Material Transition Review (MTR) process and maintain the reorder system to support the transition of materials.
- Act as the subject matter expert and provide guidance to associate and career level material analysts.
In addition to the above, Responsibilities of the Supply Chain Planner II position include the following:
- Create, update and communicate capacity plans and demand forecasts with Commodity Manager(s), suppliers and business operations. Collaboratively with the commodity team, build demand and supply plans based on forecasts. Negotiate capacity needs between BHE businesses, optimizing financial and operational needs for each business as well as the full enterprise. (35%)
- Track and report lead times, where applicable, comparing to contractual lead time indications. (20%)
- Make stocking level recommendations both internally and for strategic suppliers. Monitor and assess stockout and financial risk of the stocking levels paired with lead time analysis. (10%)
- Develop and monitor aggregate planning processes and centralization projects. Including, critical spares planning and positioning within regulatory guidelines and business needs. (10%)
Coordinate with Logistics Orchestrator to ensure safe, effective and efficient delivery plans. (10%) - Review supplier performance metrics with commodity team and suppliers. (5%)
Provide input and assistance with project planning. (5%) - Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (5%)
- Provide market intelligence to Commodity Managers, Supply Chain Analysts and other relevant groups
- Demonstration of knowledge and understanding of human performance improvement techniques.
- Evaluate present practices and implement processes, concepts, training and tools to prevent, detect and correct human errors that may adversely impact the safe, reliable operations.
Requirements
- Degree in Business or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three or more years logistics, forecasting/scheduling experience within a utility, manufacturing or industrial type company.
- Demonstrated experience with consumption based planning or distribution type inventory management systems.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain methodologies, models, and procedures.
- Strong analytical skills; ability to analyze inventory data and identify issues, risks, and trends.
- Ability to apply mathematical and analytical skills to inventory materials to identify trends, history and future activities and identify potential solutions and options.
- Ability to communicate concepts and instructions clearly and concisely including presenting data and recommendations to management.
- Proficient with the use of personal computers including spreadsheet, database, word processing, and presentation applications to gather, analyze, and model information.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills and ability to work closely with the warehouses, procurement, operations, engineers and project managers while managing the inventory to meet Company objectives.
- Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to work independently to meet individual and group objectives.
- Ability to prepare reports and presentations on a variety of inventory related subjects.
In addition to the above, Requirements of the Supply Chain Planner II position include the following:
- Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, logistics, engineering or equivalent experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for the position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
- Five or more years logistics, forecasting/scheduling experience within a utility, manufacturing or industrial type company.
- Strong personal computer skills such as Word and Excel, plus basic knowledge and ability in software packages such as PowerPoint and Visio.
- The ability to create documents and maintain information in department-specific software packages.
- Proficiency in keying and software program features based on required assessments.
- Proficiency with forecasting/modeling software preferred.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey technical information accurately and understandably to internal customers.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, the general public and employees at all levels.
Ability to deal with abstract and concrete concepts and to define obscure and incomplete problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. - Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Preferences
- APICS or equivalent material planning certification.
- Commitment to pursuing advanced education or training as needed.
- Knowledge of electric utility structure, policies, procedures, rules and regulations.

This position is eligible for an annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 12.00% of salary.
