General Purpose

Supervises a location or segment of a larger department.  Implements business objectives, strategies, and plans and manages daily work functions. Responsible for selecting, coaching, and developing employees  Implements and supports Company programs and policies. Directly responsible for plant production, equipment and maintenance reliability, and personnel productivity.


•    Maintain a safe and clean working environment by observing safety and security procedures, and reporting/correcting potentially unsafe conditions as outlined in the PacifiCorp Accident Prevention Manual. 
•    Hold supervised employees accountable to work safely and productively.
•    Hold daily safety tailboard meetings
•    Provide monthly safety training to all plant employees
•    Manage safety and other related projects at the plant as needed
•    Supervise represented employees within the guidelines of the applicable working agreement.
•    Oversee daily operations activities in the assigned area of a plant, in accordance with the company’s policies, procedures and guidelines. 
•    As assigned by a plant manager, responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, coaching, and development of employees.
•    Coach and develop employees through communication and measurement of performance and provide appropriate on-going feedback. 
•    Implement business objectives, strategies and plans. 
•    Develop work scopes and purchase requisitions
•    Establish, monitor and control costs.  
•    Ensure the timely and reliable operation of the plant facility.
•    Build and maintain cooperative working relationships with other departments, including Administration, Engineering, and Maintenance.
•    Perform project management responsibilities on unit outages, major overhauls and other projects as assigned.
•    Prepare Scope of Work documents necessary to obtain firm pricing for contractor work.
•    Must be flexible and available in responding to after-hour emergencies.
•    Commitment and dedication to manage projects or assignments through completion.
•    Ability to use computer applications for written communication, planning, budgeting and project scheduling.


•    The equivalent combination of journeymen level control room operator experience and education or bachelor’s degree in an applicable field. 
•    A minimum of five years of operations experience in a power plant or similar industrial facility.
•    Supervisory skills including the ability to implement action plans for achieving objectives, and to manage daily operations toward long term objectives.
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to communicate expectations, coach employees, provide feedback, and work collaboratively with other departments.
•    Leadership and teamwork skills to develop and promote cooperative working relationships within their crew, other maintenance crews and among departments. 
•    Ability to make timely decisions.
•    Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.
•    Basic computer skills, including e-mail and word processing. 
•    Demonstrated knowledge and background with power plant safety policies and procedures.


•    Knowledge of power plant operations and plant systems.
•    Familiarity with operations management systems.
•    Familiarity with control systems.
•    Technical knowledge and problem solving skills for operations of equipment used in power generation.
•    Experience with bargaining unit environments and collective bargaining agreements.
•    Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools.
•    Previous experience as an operation or safety supervisor at an industrial facility or power plant.

This position is eligible for an annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 15.00% of salary.
